From "12 Year a Slave" To The Front Row Of Fashion Weeks.

I don't think there is any one in this world who doesn't know who Lupita Nyong´o is, and if so I'm here to enlighten them.
Lupita was born in Mexico, raised in Kenya. She comes from a quite prestigious family, both parents being politicians.
It was a struggle for Lupita choosing what she wanted to be, growing up, specially coming from a family such as the one she comes from. She has been producing and directing some other movies in the past, and she has her own book, concerning social problems in Kenya, Africa. Finally she decided to follow her dream and become an actress, being inspired by Woopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey in the movie  "The Color Purple", and went to study in the Yale University of School of Drama.

Few years later she had her first feature film role in a Steve McQueens movie, "12 Years a Slave". She earned the Academy Award for best supporting actress, among other awards and nominations. Nyong´o is the firs Kenyan to win the Academy Award. She was named " The Most Beautiful Woman" by People magazine and "Woman of the Year" by Glamour magazine, Face of Miu Miu Spring campaign and first black ambassador of Lancome. Nyong´o is on the July cover of Vogue, making her the second African woman and the ninth black woman to be on the cover.

So this you can also find it on Wikipedia and broader, why is it that I have decided to make a post about her. I already loved her when she was awarded with the price, but I totally fell in love when i got to know her better, searching more about her life. She is such an inspiration to many people. Despite her background she is a hard working, compassion, humble, brilliant and ambitious woman. She is definitely inspiring other young women to pursue their dreams, because after all dreaming is for free.and its fun, so why not do it.What really touched me in her Massachusetts women conference speech was that she want to make movies that will make a difference in peoples life's, meaningful movies. And of course her great sense of style made me love her more, come on, I don't think anyone will forget that beautiful sky blue Prada dress.
In the sense of fashion, she is fun, elegant, classy, colourful, unpredictable and definitely not boring. Lupita does know what to wear for every occasion, but in this post will be seeing more of her daily personal style.

MADE IN SPAIN

A great one. Balenciaga.

Cristobal Balenciaga is the most prestigious Spanish Haute Couture fashion designer in history. Born in 1895 in the Basque Country, Spain, coming from a humble family, his dad was a fisherman and his mother was a seamstress.
From a young age he was very interested in the tailoring world and wonted to become a fashion designer. When he turned thirteen the Marquise de Casa de Torre become his client after challenging him to copy one of her best gowns.

Doing a fantastic work and his clients being the Royal Spanish family and aristocracy he years opened his own stores in San Sebastian, Madrid and Barcelona, labelling his gowns with the name of his mother Elsa.  Due to the Spanish Civil War he was forced to close his stores and moved to Paris, labelling this ones with his surname.

C.Balenciaga was a very discrete and super perfectionist man, he just wanted to make the best out of his work and if he hi didnt like something he would begin all over again, even though the customer liked it, his dresses had to be perfect  and that's why his considered the father of Haute Couture. He wasn't interested in becoming famous like Coco Chanel. Even though both were each´s other competence they respected one another, because they had a view of changing how women dressed in those times Chanel was making us wear trousers and Balenciaga was playing with volumes and making us less attach to our clothes.

He loved art and was a very religious man, he spent lots of time in museums and cathedrals, where he got many inspirations for his dresses.

Nowadays his most sold products are perfumes and accessories.

What would we do without photographers?

Could you just imagine fashion shows, campaigns and just the beautiful images that we get from magazines like Vogue, Vanity Fair or Elle without photographers? No, me neither, the fashion industry as we know it would be very different if we didn't have artists of the light drawing.
  .
The work of fashion photographers reads back to 1856 with Adolphe Braun who published a book with 288 photos of Virginia Oldoini a noble woman of court of Napoleon III.
To some, photography might sound like a very easy job, just taking pictures of gowns, if that was the case we would all be photographers, but that's not all, when we buy a fashion magazine and look at the runways it actually makes us feel like we are in the first row of NYFW or the super creative illustrations combined with other elements of art, changing completely the concept of plane photography, transforming the genre into an outstanding form of art. Here we find some of the outstanding photographers.

Horst P. Horst: who began his career in  the London edition of Vogue, Harper´s Bazaar and continued he´s with Chanel for three  decades.

Don´t judge a book by its cover.

Friends are very important in our lifes, we share our emotions, we have good and bad times together, support each other, shop together and most important we have a great influence one another. My best friend is doing a work about the personality of her friends and she sent me what she wrote.

"They say you can´t judge a book by its cover and I believe that is true . When I met my best friend Whitney she seamed a bit shy, calm and serious but once we started being friends and getting to know each other I found out that I had the wrong impression of her. I liked the way she dressed and that´s how we started being friends because we both liked our styles, the same music and it turns out we had more in common than what we thought. Sometimes she dresses with colors that stand out and very laid back and other times she dresses very classy and sophisticated what i like about her style is that she combines things that I never thought would match together but she makes it work, when it comes to shopping she´s the first person I want to shop with because just by looking at the clothes she knows if it will look good on me or not. fashion is her passion, she studies marketing fashion and communication.
What I like about her is that she is not afraid to be herself and to stand out. I think she likes standing out, she also loves red lipstick.
She always has photos of clothes, shoe and motivational quotes on her phone.
You could say she is very mature and responsible for her age, she knows how to cook very well, she is from Kenya and she makes really good kenyan food,so every time she visits me I ask her to cook for me .
What I love the most about her is that she doesn´t care what people think about her, she has a good self esteem, she has always stayed true to her dreams and she is very dedicated at what she does, you can tell that she only cares about what she thinks of herself and not on what people think of her just by hearing her speak, she´s very positive, very direct and she always motivates me when I doubt myself .
She is the strongest person I know ¨mentally¨ although she is also physically very strong ,she works out everyday wether it is cardio, running ,swimming…
Out of all my friends she is definitely the one that has influenced me the most, she´s a really nice person, she has a sweet voice, she's very confident, she doesn't expect people to do things for her and she´s taught me a lot of things, like how to cook…
Just by looking at each other we can tell what we are thinking without having to say it and sometimes we start to laugh and people think we are crazy .
We have a very strong friendship, we are both christians, we both speak spanish and have a lot in common but we respect our differences .
I can tell her anything without her judging me or telling others what I tell her. She'll give me her suggestions but doesn't get mad if I chose my own. When I'm down she's there to pick me up. When I'm up she's there to join me in my happiness. She likes me for the person I am and accepts I'm not perfect just as I accept her for being her." - Emily Vermillion. Love you.

Why. why what?

We all know that there is an expiring date to the Earth, and its getting closer due to our egoistic, self-centred  mind. So yeah, we all contribute in some way destroying the Earth, we all do it, know it and its not a secret, but WHY do we care so much about the environment? and yes, because we want a better future for the next generation, but even more important I think is so that other people, mostly in developing countries, from the PRESENT can still enjoy of the little but important and basic things of life.
Here I leave you with this awesome campaign from #GreenPeace about the pollution and solution in the fashion industry. Enjoy.

BECAUSE TOGETHER WE CAN DO SO MUCH MORE!!.
